Curriculum Maps: A Roadmap for Your Student's Learning
At NC Cyber Academy, every course is built on a clear, purposeful foundation: our teachers use detailed Curriculum Maps to plan and deliver instruction that is fully aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. These maps serve as a roadmap for the entire school year, outlining exactly what students will learn, when they will learn it, and how their progress will be measured.
Each Curriculum Map includes:
- Standards — the specific North Carolina academic standards covered in each unit
- Pacing — an estimated number of days allotted to each unit of study
- Assessment Information — how and when student understanding will be measured
- Curriculum Resources — the materials and tools teachers use to deliver instruction
Why Curriculum Maps Matter
Curriculum Maps aren't just a planning tool for teachers; they are a transparency tool for families. By reviewing your student's Curriculum Map, you can:
- Understand what your child is learning at any point in the school year, and why
- Anticipate upcoming units, assessments, and key learning milestones
- Identify areas where your student may need extra support or enrichment
- Have more informed, specific conversations with teachers about your student's progress
- Feel confident that instruction is consistent, standards-aligned, and building toward clear academic goals
Whether you're planning ahead, checking in on progress, or simply curious about what your student is learning this week, Curriculum Maps give you a clear window into their education.
